Berlin Christmas Markets Review
In this Berlin Christmas Market review, I’m breaking down some of the best spots for seasonal fun – from gingerbread and glühwein (mulled wine) to shopping and activities.
Cugó Gran Macina is where history meets luxury. Built within a restored medieval fortress, it seamlessly blends historic architecture with modern design and facilities, such as a rooftop pool and a relaxing spa. Located near numerous fantastic restaurants and just a short stroll away from the ferry to Valletta, this hotel serves as a great starting point for island exploration.
The hotel has 21 suites, most offering killer views of the grand harbour and marina. Each room has dramatic arched high ceilings, plenty of natural light and bespoke luxury furnishings; you’ll really feel like you’re living in a fortress. The larger suites come with a kitchenette, complete with a freezer, oven and microwave for added convenience.
Don’t miss the rooftop swimming pool, which offers fantastic city views (although it’s only open seasonally, closed between November and March). The hotel also features a bar and in-house fine dining restaurant. The Little Bastion restaurant serves contemporary Mediterranean dishes using locally-sourced seasonal produce, and the bar offers an extensive selection of drinks, including vintage wines, local and foreign wines, and a variety of craft beers to choose from.
The folks at the 24/7 front desk are super eager to give you all the insider tips on the city and set you up with fun adventures like luxury boat rides or in-room spa treats like massages and facials. They’ll even set you up with a tasty outdoor picnic in the sun.
If you’re traveling with your furry friend, no worries, you can have your pet stay with you for an extra price. Plus, you can take it easy with a late check-out at 12pm, and they’ve got your back with airport transfers to keep things hassle-free during your stay.
