Explore Delfshaven Neighbourhood

Overview

Rotterdam’s Delfshaven is a wonderfully charming neighbourhood for an afternoon exploration! The buildings in this historic area survived World War II. The vibe is completely unique from the rest of the city, so you get to experience a slice of history while you’re there.

One cool place to check out is the windmill, Korenmolen de Distilleerketel. It’s been around since the early 1700s and is one of the few windmills left in Rotterdam. Originally, it was used to grind grain, but it later became a distillery, hence the name. Nowadays, it’s a landmark and a symbol of Delfshaven’s past.

Delfshaven has a similar atmosphere to the canals of Amsterdam but the bonus is that it’s way more laid-back and not as packed with tourists.

Ooh, and don’t forget to pop into Evermore Thee for an amazing coffee if you’re in the area!
