Mama Shelter London Shoreditch

Affordable
Overview

I’m a big fan of the Mama Shelter franchise as what they do is simple rooms (often at a good price) with a good injection of fun.

Be that the writing on the mirror as you come in, the karaoke room in the basement, or the fact that there’s free XXX movies available on the TV… Yep, they’re definitely not your usual straight-laced set up.

When I stayed, we were in their smallest room – their ‘Small Mama’ – and was impressed that both me and the housemate could get around the bed! What’s more, the bathroom was pretty spacious with a huge shower and I wasn’t expecting products given the price.

Other things that I liked included a HUGE TV (which worked great for us as we’d booked the room to watch the final of I’m a Celeb… No judgement please!!) and the fact that there was a fridge in the room. Perfect for sneaking in a cheap bottle of fizz from Tesco 2 mins away.

The downstairs bar and restaurant is also massive and has a great vibe. It would be a great place for remote working too.

Finally, the breakfast the following morning was a solid 7/10. Nothing to enthuse about but given that we only paid around £7 each for it, we got a huge breakfast each, a tea AND a coffee and so if you’re looking for something to fill you up, it would be a great shout.

If you’re after something a bit more special, I definitely recommend Ozone Coffee Roasters across the road which is one of my favourite places to eat and drink great coffee in London. Also check out Mare Street Market for dinner and drinks!
