Museum Cafe, Valletta

Budget
Overview

This restaurant is the real deal – it’s been serving traditional Maltese dishes since 1921. It’s all in the family, with the current owners being the fourth generation to keep the restaurant alive. Tucked away in a quiet spot just off the busy streets of Valletta, Museum Cafe is a fave among locals, so you know it’s good!

We sadly didn’t have time to eat here when we were in Valletta but when we popped by for a nosey, the food looked great and we loved the rustic interiors. It’s got great reviews online too. Be sure to arrive early because they typically wrap things up around 3pm, and remember, they’re closed on Sundays.

If we were ordering, we’d pick the pastizzi – a traditional Maltese pastry filled with ricotta. But you’ve got plenty of mouthwatering options to choose from, don’t miss out on the grilled chicken pie and the bragioli (stuffed bundles of beef). The best part is, they serve up some pretty large portions, and the prices are super affordable as well. Combine that with the friendly, homey atmosphere, and Museum Cafe becomes an absolute must-visit for an authentic taste of Malta.
